How to Fix Gaps Between Teeth Without Braces in Burleson

By Stonehaven Dental & Orthodontics | March 19, 2026

If you have gaps between your teeth, you don’t always need braces to fix them. In many cases, we can close small to moderate spaces using cosmetic treatments like dental bonding, porcelain veneers, or clear aligners tailored for minor corrections. The right option depends on the size of the gap, the cause, and your overall oral health.

Gaps between teeth, often called “spaces” or diastema, are more common than most people think. At our Burleson office, patients come to us because they feel self-conscious about their smile, while others notice food getting stuck or slight speech changes.

Why Do Gaps Happen Between Teeth?

The common reasons for a gap between teeth are:

  • Natural tooth size vs jaw size mismatch (small teeth, larger jaw)
  • Missing teeth
  • Gum disease causing tooth movement
  • Tongue thrusting habits
  • Genetics (runs in families)
  • Spacing after orthodontic relapse

Some gaps are purely cosmetic. Others can lead to:

  • Food trapping and plaque buildup
  • Higher risk of gum issues
  • Gradual shifting of teeth
  • Uneven wear

If the underlying issue is active, like gum disease, we address that first before moving into cosmetic correction.

Best Ways to Fix Gaps Without Braces

1. Dental Bonding (Quickest Fix for Small Gaps)

For small spaces, dental bonding is often the simplest solution.

We apply a tooth-colored resin to the sides of your teeth and shape it to close the gap. It blends naturally with your smile and can usually be completed in a single visit.

Best for:

  • Small gaps (especially front teeth)
  • Patients wanting a fast, affordable solution

What to expect:

  • Minimally invasive (no drilling in most cases)
  • Immediate results
  • Lasts several years with proper care

2. Porcelain Veneers (Long-Term Cosmetic Upgrade)

If you’re looking for a more permanent and aesthetic transformation, veneers are one of the most effective options.

These are thin porcelain shells placed over the front of your teeth to close gaps while improving shape, color, and symmetry.

For many of our Burleson patients looking to cosmetic dentistry services to close gaps and brighten their teeth, we often recommend veneers as part of a comprehensive smile makeover plan.

Best for:

  • Moderate gaps
  • Uneven or misshaped teeth
  • Patients wanting a full smile enhancement

What to expect:

  • Highly natural appearance
  • Long-lasting (10–15+ years with care)
  • Requires minimal enamel preparation

3. Clear Aligners (Without Traditional Braces Look)

While technically orthodontic, clear aligners deserve a place here because they don’t involve brackets or wires.

For mild to moderate spacing, we can gradually move teeth into proper alignment using nearly invisible trays.

Best for:

  • Patients who want to correct spacing naturally
  • Cases where tooth positioning (not size) is the main issue

What to expect:

  • Removable trays
  • Gradual results over months
  • More discreet than braces

4. Dental Crowns (When Structure Is Compromised)

If a tooth is damaged, worn down, or structurally weak, a crown can help restore its shape while closing gaps.

We don’t use this as a first option for purely cosmetic gaps, but in the right situation, it serves both functional and aesthetic purposes.

5. Gum Treatment (If Gum Disease Is the Cause)

In some patients, gaps appear because the gums and bone supporting the teeth have weakened.

In these cases, we stabilize your oral health first. Once the foundation is healthy, we can safely move forward with cosmetic correction.

Which Option Is Right for You?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here.

When patients visit our Burleson office, we look at:

  • Size and location of the gap
  • Condition of your teeth and gums
  • Bite alignment
  • Your long-term goals

For example:

  • A small front gap? Bonding might be enough.
  • Multiple gaps with uneven teeth? Veneers could be better.
  • Spacing due to alignment? Clear aligners may be the right path.

How Much Does It Cost to Fix Gaps in Burleson?

Costs vary depending on the treatment you choose:

  • Bonding: Typically more affordable, especially for minor gaps
  • Veneers: Higher upfront cost but long-term value
  • Aligners: Mid-to-high range depending on treatment duration

We always discuss options clearly so you can make a confident, informed decision.

When Braces Might Still Be Necessary

Even though many gaps can be fixed without braces, there are situations where traditional orthodontics may still be the better choice:

  • Large or complex spacing issues
  • Bite problems (overbite, underbite)
  • Jaw alignment concerns

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you fix gaps between teeth permanently without braces?

Yes, in many cases we can close gaps permanently without braces using treatments like porcelain veneers or dental bonding. Veneers tend to offer a longer-lasting solution, while bonding is a quicker and more affordable option for smaller gaps. The right choice depends on your specific case and long-term goals.

2. What is the fastest way to close a gap between front teeth?

Dental bonding is usually the fastest way. We can often close small front tooth gaps in a single visit by applying and shaping a tooth-colored material. You walk out the same day with a visibly improved smile.

3. Are clear aligners better than bonding for fixing gaps?

It depends on the cause of the gap. If the spacing is due to tooth alignment, clear aligners are often the better option because they move the teeth into proper position. If the gap is small and mainly cosmetic, bonding may be quicker and more practical.

4. How do I know which treatment is right for my gap?

The only reliable way is to have your teeth evaluated in person. We look at the size of the gap, your bite, gum health, and overall tooth structure before recommending a solution. What works well for one patient may not be the best choice for another.

Sammy, Connor, the front desk staff, Dental Hygenist and especially Dr. Town are amazing! It’s great to see the same faces everyone I get a cleaning! Sammy makes the experience comfortable and welcome. Connor may be quiet but he always does a great job! The dental hygienist always remembers me and my kids. Sorry I cant remember her name but she knows who I am and that’s what matters:) Thankful for this staff and the great care they give to my family!

We’ve always had a good experience at Stonehaven. The women at the front desk are always cheerful and helpful. I love the hygienists, they always make my children and I feel comfortable and informed. I have pretty high dental anxiety and they’ve never tried to minimize my fears- but they listen to me, and help me feel as comfortable as possible. The dentists and orthodontists have been great! No issues at all. (I just wish my daughter was better at flossing, but we’re working on that!)
